Television and Film Script Appraisals
All types of scripts appraised except scientific and technical.
Getting your television or film script or treatment read and
assessed is the first step to success. "How am I going; and is it worth
anything? Where do I go from here?" are questions we set out to answer.
What you can expect from us
M.A.A. is not a producer or distributor; we offer a
commercial evaluation of content, presentation and marketability of a
film or television project.
M.A.A. provides a minimum of two pages of written evaluation;
this is not a prescriptive edit.
Our assessors will offer general advice on areas such as the premise,
concept execution, `characterisation, the stakes, pacing, visual
values, dialogue and target audience.
Those manuscripts that M.A.A. believes are commercially
viable may be presented to a producer through an associated agent, but
only after consultation with the writer.
In a highly competitive
market, you have to get your idea in
front of a producer and make that producer pay attention. M.A.A. will
give you impartial and professional feedback on your treatment or
script. This can help you develop a more targeted and impressive
product.
Conditions for submitting TV or film script for appraisal
All work must be original and un-produced. All work must be
submitted by the
writer or writers or with the written permission of the writer/s.
The privacy of the writer will be respected. Assessors used
by M. A. A. shall
remain anonymous to ensure their privacy.
While every care is taken to preserve the script and
associated submissions,
no responsibility is accepted for any loss or damage, no matter how it
occurs.
It is strongly recommended that the writer retains the original of all
scripts
and associated material submitted.
A synopsis of the work - generally of no more than a page -
must be submitted
with each script. Wherever possible, writers are asked to include a
short profile
of themselves, along with any other relevant information.
Receipt of each script will be acknowledged by mail and a
report will be sent
to the writer when the script is returned (no later than 8 weeks after
it arrives at M.A.A.).
The script should be neatly typed on even-sized paper with
pages numbered.
Professional layout is encouraged.
The writer of the work must be at least 18 years of age, or
have a parent or
guardian's written approval to submit the script for appraisal.
M.A.A. and its assessors take every care to protect the
confidentiality of material
submitted. We do not discuss the projects with anyone outside the
business without
permission from the writer. We cannot, however, take any responsibility
for co-incidence
if a similar idea is produced.
